MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING
You already understand yourself, but something is still in the way.

Counseling Services in Denver, CO
Many people arrive at counseling having already done significant work on themselves. They understand their patterns and can name their triggers. They know where things come from. And they are still stuck in the same loops, still reacting in the same ways, still unable to fully access the version of themselves they know is in there.
That gap between knowing and being able to change is not a failure of insight. It is often a nervous system that has not yet had the conditions to update. You can understand something completely and still have a body that responds as if the threat is current. You can know exactly why you do something and still not be able to stop doing it. Insight reaches a real ceiling when the physiology underneath has not shifted.
This is where counseling with a brain-based lens tends to reach something different.
My Background
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, qEEG-Diplomate, and who is also board certified in neurofeedback, I bring a neurophysiological lens into the counseling room alongside the psychological one.
This means the work is informed by a genuine understanding of what the nervous system may be doing underneath the patterns, the reactions, the exhaustion, and the stuckness. Not as a theory, but as something I have seen in hundreds of brain maps and in my own experience. That understanding changes the conversation. When someone can see that their anxiety is not a character flaw but a nervous system running a pattern it learned for good reason, the shame tends to ease. When they understand that their emotional flooding, their shutdown, their inability to rest, their hypervigilance has a physiological shape, they stop fighting themselves and start working with what is actually there.
Clients often describe feeling genuinely seen here. Not because the work is soft, but because it goes beneath the surface to explain why their internal experience feels the way it does. That is the difference.

What We Work With
Counseling at LuxNeuro is especially useful for people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma and complex PTSD, burnout, emotional sensitivity, neurodivergence, relationship patterns, grief, and the specific exhaustion that comes from years of over-functioning, masking, or staying in survival mode long past when the original threat was present.
Many of the people who find their way here are highly sensitive, high-functioning, or neurodivergent. They have often tried other approaches that helped in some ways and did not quite reach the rest. If you come with a therapeutic foundation that has already built something real, that is something we can work with and build from, rather than starting over.
Together, weโll work to shed what may be holding you back in life, so you can discover that on the other side of fear lies courage and the version of you that youโve been waiting to meet.

How The Work Tends To Go
The approach is person-centered, collaborative, and non-shaming. It draws on cognitive behavioral frameworks, Acceptance and Commitment approaches, nervous system education, self-awareness practices, relational insight, and the brain-based understanding that shapes everything we do here. The modality follows the person rather than the other way around.
What tends to happen in this work is that the patterns start to make sense in a different way. Not just intellectually but in a way that shifts the relationship to them. Instead of asking what is wrong with me, the question becomes what did my nervous system learn and what does it actually need now. That shift changes what becomes possible.
Over time, clients tend to notice more flexibility in how they respond, more access to themselves, more stability in who they are regardless of what is happening around them. The work is not about becoming someone different. It is about understanding how you work well enough to stop organizing your life around what you cannot access.

How We Start
1. Discovery Call
This is where we hear what has been going on and start to translate it. People usually leave with a clearer sense of what is actually happening, not just what it feels like from the inside.
2. Brain Map
We map your brain before we do anything else. Two people with anxiety can have completely different patterns underneath. The map shows us what we are actually working with.
3. Neurofeedback and Counseling
From there, we build something specific to you. Something built around how your brain is functioning, with your brain as the guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a brain map to start counseling?
No. A brain map may be recommended at some point if we think it would add useful information, but counseling can begin without it.
Can I do neurofeedback and counseling together?
Yes. Many clients do both and find that the combination reaches something neither alone quite gets to. We can discuss what makes sense for you during the discovery call.
Is counseling available via telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth counseling is available for clients located across Colorado. In-person sessions are available at our Denver office.
What if I have already done a lot of therapy?
That is often the profile of someone who does well here. People who have built a real therapeutic foundation and still feel like something has not fully clicked tend to find that the brain-based lens tends to add a layer that connects things in a new way. You do not have to start over. We build from what you already have.
If you are ready to work with someone who can see both the story and the nervous system underneath it, a discovery call is the right place to start.
